Oppo and OnePlus phones banned in Germany

Oppo has suffered a severe legal obstruction in Germany. According to a report in Nokiamob.net, the Mannheim Regional Court has reigned in favour of Nokia against its recent patent dispute with Oppo. The court gave this ruling in two lawsuits filed by Nokia against Oppo and OnePlus. The Finland-based Nokia had sued Oppo in four different countries in 2021 after weakening to reach an agreement with the Chinese smartphone giant. This for now forbids the two brands from selling their devices in Germany.

Nokia had sued OPPO over nine Standard Essential Patents (SEPs) and five implementation patents in three regional German Courts.

Nokia is the standard-bearer in the 5G SEPs segment with huge investments of about $130.3 billion approx.

It has tons of patents in the field and has grown several settlements in recent times. Daimler and Lenovo are some of Nokia’s recent challengers who have settled with the Finnish company.

The Mannheim Regional Court granted Nokia a cease-and-desist order in contradiction of OPPO. This means that OPPO and OnePlus devices are banned from Germany.

Nokia has in Germany A lawsuit against smartphone company Oppo Beat the patent contravention. Oppo uses Nokia’s patented technologies, without paying for them. The court has now delivered a sales ban on Oppo and OnePlus devices.

It relates to several patents on communication technologies, user boundaries, and security. Nokia has sued Oppo for 30 defilements in Germany. Oppo, in turn, has sued Nokia for infringing 14 5G patents in Germany and China, and has asked a court in the Netherlands to pledge invalidation proceedings, which may announce the patents unfairly granted.

Nokia won the lawsuit in Germany mid-June already Oppo has resumed. He is now destined again in favor of Nokia. According to the court, Nokia acted neutrally, and Oppo forbidden several proposals from Nokia. Oppo has now been found guilty of using patented technologies without obtaining a license to do so.

The legal battle between Oppo and Nokia has been going on since last year. More data will be released later this month and early next month.
